Living in Spring
Spring is an unincorporated community about 25 miles north of downtown Houston, mostly in northern Harris County with a smaller part in southern Montgomery County. HAR puts its population above 62,000. German immigrants settled the area in the mid-1800s, and the historic Old Town Spring district, with its colorful old-style buildings, still anchors the community. Interstate 45, the Hardy Toll Road and the Grand Parkway connect Spring to downtown Houston, The Woodlands and the rest of the region.

Schools
Spring Independent School District serves much of the area, according to HAR. Because Spring is an unincorporated community whose mailing area crosses district lines, some addresses fall in neighboring districts. Confirm the zoned school by address with the district before you make an offer.
Things to Do
Old Town Spring is the area’s signature destination, with more than 150 shops, restaurants and galleries according to HAR, plus festivals and events through the year. Mercer Botanic Gardens, Pundt Park and Dennis Johnston Park offer green space, and shoppers have The Woodlands Mall and the Market at Springwoods Village close by. The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion hosts outdoor concerts, and golfers can choose from courses including Augusta Pines Golf Club and Cypresswood Golf Club.
Homes and Communities
Spring offers a wide range of housing, from established single-family neighborhoods and townhomes to apartments and larger-lot estates. HAR’s average listing has four bedrooms and about 2,700 square feet. Because Spring sits on the Gulf Coast plain, check flood and drainage history by address using HAR’s flood resource, ask whether the home is in a municipal utility district (MUD) that adds a tax line, and review insurance options.
