Impact Of Collapse In Oil Price On Real Estate

At the end of last year, we started hearing about a shift in the market. We didn’t panic, but we started to plan for the change. With the drop of oil prices and the announcement of many jobs lost, people started getting scared and expected a fall in the Real Estate market. By Christmas, everybody was distracted. Personally, I didn’t feel the fall. Banks announced an increase in interest rates. The market slowed down a little bit, but we finished strong. The year of 2015 achieved the second–highest levels of sales of all times (2014 being the best year in the Houston Real Estate Market).

The truth now is, buyers are still out there. Luxury homes sales decline, but people still make the decision to buy homes because of lifestyle changes or people with capital prefer to go shopping and invest in Real Estate. They understand that opportunities are out there. First home buyers are excited looking for their new homes.
Also being a Relocation Consultant, makes me experience how, even as energy companies cut back on a global basis, some are bringing executives back to Houston. This proves we are a diverse industry, and we are still a strong economy.

Buying a home these days is not only about oil prices. It is a decision based on emotions, lifestyle changes, and opportunities. The interest rates are still down and attractive. People are shopping out there, open to get the deal done.As a Real Estate expert, I am prepared for incoming changes and to offer my clients knowledge and give them the best customer service. Always going the extra mile to give them the best experience. Buying a home, in my opinion, is not an easy decision even in a perfect market. Buying a home is one of the most important decisions that somebody will make in their lifetime. The Houston market is a healthy market. It started slowly but took giant steps. February home sales are up over two percent compared to the same month last year according to the data from Houston Association of Realtors and MLS Report for February 2016.

Happily, I can say “We are Open for business” and that 2016 is going to be a great year!
