If you are new to Houston, as your Houston real estate team, allow us to introduce you to Houston Restaurant Weeks! This is a yearly tradition where you can enjoy special prices at Houston restaurants, and donations provide relief for families suffering from hunger. It’s a win-win for everyone.
Houston Restaurant Weeks is the largest annual fundraiser for America’s largest food bank, the Houston Food Bank! The event is planned by volunteers, so HRW donates 100 percent of donations raised. Participating Houston restaurants make donations based on how many brunches, lunches and dinners they sell during the event.
For lunch, you will pay $20 for a two or three-course meal. This generates nine meals by the Houston Food Bank. For a three-course brunch, you will pay $25. This generates 12 meals. For a three or four-course dinner, you will pay either $35, which generates 15 meals, or $45, which generates 21 meals. Cost of dinner depends on the restaurant you dine at.
Houston Restaurant Weeks run from Saturday, Aug. 1, through Sept. 7. Anytime during this time period, you can call to make a reservation at one of the participating restaurants. Mention that you’d like the special HRW menu when reserving. Some restaurants allow walk-ins, so check out the list to see which restaurants you’re interested in checking out.
The event includes restaurants in Harris, Galveston and Montgomery counties. There are around 200 restaurants participating, so you’ve got plenty of options!
While dining out, take a photo of your food! Bank of America is presenting a HRW Foodie Photo Contest. You can post your food photo on Twitter with the hashtag #HRWFoodiePhotoContest and judges will award one prize per week for the best photo. Prize is a $100 restaurant gift certificate!
Some restaurants feature more than just food specials. For example, Karbach Brewing will include beer pairings with each course of their $35 dinner. Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will include a movie ticket for the night you dine with them for dinner, and a free ticket for a return visit.
Houston Restaurant Weeks is a wonderful event, because it gives you a chance to try out new restaurants in the Houston area that you haven’t gotten to try yet, and you know your money is going toward a great cause! Plus, you have a whole month to dine out as often as you like, rather than cramming it all into one week, which is how long restaurant weeks typically last.
